Today, our business baby, CoolCrafting, was born, at the Vintage Village Hall event at Great Urswick, nr Ulverston. After weeks of prep, we launched with five bitesize courses that gave a flavour of what CoolCrafting is all about.
From Paper Heart Bunting, to Felt Corsages, Gingham Pinboards, and Painted Lanterns, everyone who joined us seemed to be really pleased with the results.
One lady, Sharon, stayed with us for the duration of the courses, and there was a noticeable improvement in her rotary cutting skills by the end of the day! Sharon and many others went home having learnt some new skills, and having completed some fun projects.
The Vintage Village Hall team, Rachel, Jo and Kay proved you can have a great idea and turn it into a successful reality – and make it look easy (we know you are on the vodka now, girls) and we sincerely hope they turn their attention to a series of these events, putting the heart right back in the community. The event was incredibly well attended and we met some great new friends and colleagues. There was an eclectic mix of vintage treasures along with a nostalgic tea room.
Lessons learnt –
1. Not everyone wants to craft, some people just want to buy the stuff you’ve made.
2. Covered buttons can be really fiddly, but, never, ever give up!
