The Great British Sewing Bunny Week 4 (and some sleepy thoughts on the sewing bee)

By 22nd May 2020One Comment

The Great British Sewing Bee is still bringing us all the joy! This week our contestants are making lingerie and sleepwear and has definitely given me some serious pyjama envy. The talent eight went head to head against the clock in a very challenging contest full of complex makes. The challenges included making a boned basque, transforming pyjamas and nightwear into summer dresses and making a made-to-measure two-piece female sleep set.

This week the Bee said goodbye to our friend Ali and it was clear the other contestants were as sad to see her leave as we were, follow her on Instagram @thimbers

Carolyn Pajamas from Closet Case Patterns

Carolyn Pajamas sewing pattern from Closet Case Patterns. Designed for chic lounging, the Carolyn Pajamas are thoughtfully tailored with a modern, figure-flattering cut. The Carolyn top features a classic notched collar, curved hem and breast pocket with three sleeve options. For a matching set, choose between a straight-legged pant (with or without cuff) or a cuffed short. Both pants and shorts feature an elasticised waist, pockets and a faux fly. Personalise Carolyn by adding contrasting piping details for an elegant finish. We love these pj’s, and we promise that they’re a lot easier to make then they look although are defiantly a time-consuming make especially with all that piping.

Luna Lapins Pajamas

We couldn’t talk about pyjamas and not mention Lunas. Luna’s Pyjamas are an easy Luna make. Even Rabbits get sleepy, especially ones who are so well dressed.

Luna’s Pyjama top has a raglan sleeve and a wrap front. The edges are finished with a picot edged pre-folded bias binding that gives a really easy and pretty finish. Luna’s Pyjama bottoms have an elasticated waist and the hems are finished with bias binding. There is even an opening to accommodate a cottontail.

These little cuties are featured in our first book or available as a kit here

THE GREAT BRITISH SEWING BUNNY
Week 4 – Fantasy

This week was fantasy week on the Great British Sewing Bunny and my gosh it was the hardest week to judge yet. every single contestant pulled out all the stops. I couldn’t sleep from trying to choose a winner. All our past winners made such exceptional entrances it was difficult to not just give the title to everyone. We saw dragons, fairy, an ice queen and two incredibly well made Maleficent’s.

Watch our video to see all the brilliant, imaginative makes

Our joint winners for the week are

 Linda Ford

Linda Ford’s Jareth the Goblin King was the fan favourite, and we couldn’t get over his leather pants. A remarkable entry and use of hard to work with fabrics.

Chris Mooney Abbott

Chris Mooney Abbott created a beautiful Daenerys Targaryen, mother of rabbits. the attention to detail was extraordinary, down to her posture and steely gaze. A well-deserved win for a talented stitcher who has impressed us week after week.

We have been absolutely thrilled with the response and its heartwarming to see people come together to share creativity and good fun. Anyone that has entered all four weeks please get in touch with us so we can gift you a voucher for your participation.

Next we are taking a break to allow fabric packs to get to our worthy winners.
