Founded in the 1930’s by the Smith family of Berry Farm, Scalloway, Shetland, before relocation to Lerwick. Jamieson and Smith (now owned by Curtis Wool Direct) remain dedicated to Shetland wool, Shetland Sheep and Shetland people. Raised in the wind and rain on a diet of heather and seaweed, Shetland sheep produce soft, strong, warm wool that is to be treasured. Because of this, Jamieson & Smith hand-graded the wool to ensure nothing was wasted.

Referred to as “jumper weight” it was traditionally used for knitting Fair Iles, it is equivalent to 4ply/fingering weight yarn. Sold in a small 25g bal, lthis Scottish yarn is great for small projects. Plus, we stock over 90 colours!
