To help celebrate our 6th birthday we ran a competition all about Luna and her wardrobe. Many of you shared your photographs of Luna and friends either on social media (facebook, instagram, or twitter) or by sending them to us by email and we have loaded them onto a pinterest board.
Do take a look because it was a really difficult job making decisions on what was the best in each category – and took much discussion around the kitchen table.
Winners of each category are as follows
Most stylish Luna #lovelunalapin
Winner Alison Nairn for her interpretation of Alice in Wonderland and the White Rabbit – We chose this because not only are the bunnies beautifully finished but Alison has done exactly what I always wanted to happen with our ideas – taken them and developed them into something better.
Runner up is Jenny whose blog is Bit of Tea and Honey with this incredibly detailed study of Luna in her PJ’s – look at the miniature Making Luna Lapin book!
Most dapper Alfie #lovealfierabbit
All of Anne Forster’s bunny work is meticulous and these boys are so fantastic with their man bags and the added humorous carrot detail – just brilliant.
Runner up goes to Judy Wickman whose Alfie looks so handsome and we just love his boots and turned up collar.
Best pattern hack #funnybunny
This was a really fun category and we are in awe of this super elephant created by Leigh
Runner Up goes to Nicola Yendall and her Hoppy Potter ( I sometimes look at his photo just to cheer me up)
Best Design Detail #cottondetail
This has to go to Sonia from @sewofcourse for being so damn clever with her little hook fastening on Lily’s bunny boots
Runner up is Kirsty Lorna Proctor for making tail holes in Luna’s Coat
Most Luna’s made by one person #lunatic
This could prove to be contentious because we wanted them all in one photo but we had some collages submitted – so is that one photo made of lots of photos or should they all be one photo? In the end we decided on Christine Carrington because the bunnies were all clearly different and there were plenty of them!
Runner up goes to Little Katie’s Crafts – and I have to say this is one of my favourite pictures of the competition because the CoolCrafting family look so good.
Best Luna’s Friend #bunnysbestfriend goes to Johanna Gault for her beautifully made fox and badger, Hubble and Trouble ( the boots are from ebay for anyone who fancies some!)
Runner up in this category goes to Derek Stanford for an amazing bewhiskered dog.
We have been thrilled with everyone’s entries and thank you all so much for entering – it has been so entertaining and joyful to look at all the creativity. Winners in each category will recieve a code or voucher worth £20 to spend on CoolCrafting goodness – and we will be sorting something out for the runners up too.
We now need to decide on an overall winner and because this has been such hard work – we are handing it over to you! We will post all the pictures on Facebook and Instagram and you can vote for the overall winner who will recieve a further £30 worth of vouchers. Vote by Friday 14th July. We are leaving you will a pretty little poem written by another Luna fan Karen King
“My name is Luna hare I watch over you at night,
I skip into your dreams turning darkness into light.
My name is Luna hare I’m not just some old thing,
I’m made with time and patience and some alchemy I bring.
I whisper words of solace while your mind it quietly rests,
And wake you with new purpose and a sense of happiness.
My name is Luna hare, I’m special, kind and true,
Handmade with love and magic, especially for you…”

Im only just learning about luna and all her friends ! Im slowly working through book one … ive noticed many are making her and her clothing by machine ??? The ethos of the book is suggesting you make everything by hand so thats exactly what im doing for the coat which ive completed and of luna which ive made also entirely by hand .
As a child i made felt animals and my first alfie was stitched with blanket stitch.
My next luna ill be showing this hand stitching by using a contrasting medium.
I love the whole idea of heirloom toys so nice to be creating something with a crafting detail and care
Thanks to the very talented Sarah Peel you really get to know how talented she is as a designer.
