Ginger Bakers is a growing local business, based in Kendal, Cumbria. Established by Lisa Smith, Ginger Bakers creates delicious hand baked cakes with a focus on quality, local ingredients and imaginative flavour combinations. I was lucky enough to visit Lisa’s kitchens to observe the passion and the process behind the award winning cakes.
The kitchen is a place for sensory overload – delicious smells, a visual treat of steel equipment contrasting with the softness of the cakes and icing, plus the welcoming warmth of the ovens. This kitchen has a professional approach to an artisan product.
The philosophy behind the baking is one of love, care and attention – the desire to bake something better. Carefully selected ingredients, clever flavour combinations, hand mixing, and delightful names such as Lover’s Loaf and Raspberry & Almond Blondie equals great product.
If only we could deliver a taste test via the internet – one bite of a Ginger Bakers cake and you will be smitten. We are addicted , in particular, to the Sticky Ginger Fudge Cake. Lisa’s previous career was in teaching and she now runs classes, which are quickly booked up. To view future dates, visit the website.
An important element of Ginger Bakers philosophy is that no one should be excluded from enjoying delicious cake, so Lisa has produced the successful ‘Something Special’ range for those with special dietary needs. pictured below is a Gluten Free Apple Spice and All Things Nice cake.
Ginger Bakers are sold through Booths supermarkets/cafes, and they supply various cafes through Cumbria and Lancashire. Ginger Bakers also regularly attend Farmers Markets and local festivals. See the website for more details, and follow Ginger Bakers on Facebook and Twitter.
