Diversity Pledge

By 10th June 2020No Comments

CoolCrafting began 9 years ago with an ambition to make sewing accessible to everyone. As the business grew into a brand we have stood by this dream. Our ethos is and always has been about learning and kindness. We have taken a good look at our business recently and are determined to make it more reflective of the diversity and inclusivity we want to see in the world. Inclusivity means striving to represent our diverse community including but not limited to race, gender, size, age, orientation, and ability diversity.

So where do we start?

  • We are diversifying our doll to be available in 5 skin tones and 5 hairs colours with a mixture of textures. We want people to be able to make our doll in too whoever they want them to represent and to be reflective of all people.
  • We are determined to widen our stockists to include more BIPOC. We are actively seeking out designers, makers, creators and producers that we can support. If you have a product and think it fits our business let us know by emailing us.
  • We always stock a full range of sizes from any pattern line we take on. From now on we will be actively pushing the pattern houses that we stock to be more size-inclusive and to use a more diverse range of models that are reflective of the sewing community.
  •  We are committed to allyship and want to see this reflected in the events we choose to attend and the businesses we already work with. We will call out behaviour that doesn’t adhere to our own diversity pledge and seek to actively champion change through conversation.
  • We are dedicated to fostering an online community that is a safe space for all people. We will continue to monitor our online spaces to ensure that they remain the kind and supportive places that they are. Intolerance will never be tolerated in a space we have created.

We want to do better and will always be transparent in our business practices.
