Description

Welcome Pere Hiver, a rabbitty-hare and his friends Florin Longfoot and Merry.

These rabbitty hares are machine sewn in craft cotton ( something a little lighter than calico and heavier than poplin) and are not just a scaled-down version of Luna – although you could do that if you wanted. The rabbits are just under 10″ ( 25cm) from toe to ear tip and should be free-standing, depending on how well you stuff the feet!

We strongly recommend you have a Prym turning tool set for this kit – buy here, and a doll needle – buy here.

Pere Hiver ( Father Winter in French, rhymes with rabbitty – hare) wears a mini boucle edge to edge coat with contrast trim on edges and cuff, long bibbed bloomers with a gold holly print, a deep pleat and ribbon detail on the legs, a long elf hat with jingling bell and snow boots in felt trimmed with a contrast boucle cuff top

Florin Longfoot wears a fur and ribbon trimmed edge to edge felt jacket, short bibbed bloomers with a gold holly leaf print, a long elf cap in felt, trimmed with fur,  and felt pixie boots with jingling bells.

Merry wears a tiered dress in white with tiny silver printed stars, embellished with an iron-on beaded trim. The bell sleeves have matching trim. The full skirt has a luxurious fur hem a la Snow Queen. She also has detachable felt wings with top stitching (these are a bit of a blank canvas for you to get your glitter out!) and an optional beaded crown/halo.

Initially, I thought of doing something easier and a little more unfinished but these have ended up being just as detailed as everything else.

There is so much design work in this kit, it’s taken me an age!

Beautiful fabric, trimmings and pattern, The kit even included thread and stuffing!
Sadly it was let down by the black and white photo on the pattern. I have had to copy and print a colour picture from the website to ensure I get the fabrics right and do justice to these fabulous bunnies.
Such a shame, I would have happily paid an extra pound on top of the £65 it cost or even swapped the stuffing and thread for a colour picture of these beautiful creatures.

Thanks Lindsay, invaluable feedback – we will put this right immediately – it was down to cost – as the instructions are printed as a booklet it would have put up the photocopying cost by £3 and I had undercosted anyhow – but I can see (in hindsight) that we should have printed and cut down a colour copy seperately – I do apologise.

This has to be the most delightful thing I’ve ever made. So much fun and chock-full with sumptuous fabrics and trimmings. It is the embodiment of Christmas for me. I was anxious that my sewing wouldn’t be up to the job but the instructions were clear and I had few problems. I was super excited at each stage as it came together. The first thing I made when it came to the outfits was the elfin slippers, complete with their curled up toes and little golden bells. I was so charmed. What more can I say? I love the Festive Friends and I’m definitely putting remake kits for next year on my Christmas list!
