Meet Giant Luna. First brought to life by the Luna community during our 10th anniversary weekend in Kendal. Giant Luna really is a big one! Standing at almost 5 feet tall from foot to ear tip, she is 350% bigger than the original. Our biggest rabbit is really a challenge for the home stitcher!
You should be able to use your original Luna instructions (from a kit or in any of our books) to make Giant Luna, (this product is for a pattern ONLY no instructions included) – here are Sarah’s tips for success.
Helpful hints for cutting and sewing Giant Luna
The layout takes 2 mtrs of fabric or felt at 90cm (36inches) wide. A wider fabric will mean you need less length. I would opt for a heavy interfacing rather than medium weight.
This pattern has seam allowance on all parts.
The seam allowance varies, and is indicated by the dashed line on each pattern piece.
Using a seam allowance means you will be sewing with right sides together, and that you will be changing the method you might be used to for Luna.
The ears are big, and heavy – they will not stand upright without some support. We have used some lightweight plastic to create a better standing ear- not perfect, but improved. Please see a supporting video on YouTube here https://youtu.be/0TCuJHqRS9E
The button size needs to change for a bigger Luna – we would use a 40ligne/ 1inch for the eyes, and 64 ligne/ 1 3/4 inch for the arms
Giant Luna is available pre printed and posted only – its just to big to make home printable, plus its just for fun!
