Description
This linen cotton blend by Robert Kaufman is a dressmaking staple. Amazingly versatile, it works well in Merchant and Mills dressmaking patterns as well as being a great base to allow your patchworking to pop. Heavy enough to be a trouser weight but fluid enough for a dress or top, Essex Yarn Dye is a true perennial for us.
Essex yarn dye is used extensively through the Luna Lapin range – colour Flax makes a beautiful Flora Lapin or Briar Bunnies, Espresso is the colour worn by Bramble in the Meadowsweet Pinafore, Chambray is used in the Pintuck top and Bloomers, Hugh’s trousers are made in colourway Nautical.
In my opinion, there is always something more interesting about Yarn Dyed fabrics (where the colour comes from the warp and the weft threads) than piece dyes (where the fabric has been woven and then dyed in a piece). In this instance the warp and weft are different colours which gives the Essex Yarn dye it’s subtlety and personality.
